Grutza Starts Again, UC Now 4-0

For the second straight week, Dustin Grutza was the surprise starter at quarterback for the Cincinnati Bearcats, and for the second straight week, Grutza delivered. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns as the Bearcats beat Marshall 40-14 last night in front of the largest crowd in the history of Nippert Stadium. Grutza ran six times for 28 yards. He threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Barnett in the first quarter and a 7-yard touchdown pass to Connor Barwin in the 4th quarter. Ben Mauk, who started at quarterback the first two games, came off the bench last night. Mauk, who has been bothered by a tired shoulder, completed 6 of 7 passes for 77 yards and one touchdown. Cincinnati is 4-0 for the first time since 1954. The Bearcats play at San Diego State Saturday night.
