Track and Field Regional Meet Day One

De'Sarae Chambers qualified for the state track and field meet in the long jump and several other Mason County athletes advanced to the region finals during the first day of the regional meet today at Lawrence County. Chambers qualified for the state meet with a second place finish in the long jump at 16-2. In other finals today, Daniel Reed was third in the triple jump at
40-5.5. The girls' 4x800 team consisting of Beri Wallingford, Valerie Rice, Rachel White and Blaine Menke was fourth with a time of 11:15. Mason County athletes advancing to the region finals to be held Saturday include: Chambers in the 100 meter dash, Iretta Carpenter in the 300 meter hurdles, Brent Sparks in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, the boys' 4x100 meter relay and boys' 4x200 meter relay, both consisting of Sparks, Chase Crawford, Reed and Tyreese Scott, and the girls 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Chambers, Beryl Wallingford,
Ashley Deatley and Keller Menke.
