Several local tennis players were winners today at the 10th Region Tournament at Georgetown College.
Chris Morris and Braun Applegate of Mason County, the number one seed in boys doubles, won their second round match 6-0, 6-0. Morris and Applegate received a first round bye.
Travis Scaggs and Steven Scaggs of Mason County won two matches. They beat Campbell County 6-3, 6-4, and upset number seven seed Highlands 6-2, 6-4. HaoRong Wang of Mason County won his first round match, but lost in the second round. Jackson Gossard of Mason County lost his first round match.
Katie Blakefield and Sarah Wallingford of Mason County, the number eight seed in girls doubles, were winners Monday and will play again tomorrow.
Marilyn Feil and Claire Estill of St. Patrick, the number seven seed, have advanced to the quarterfinals in girls doubles, and Andrew Blakefield of St. Patrick, the number seven seed in boys singles has advanced to the quarterfinal round.
