- Scott County junior Cameron Hundley tied a state tournament record by hitting 13 consecutive free throws in the Cardinals' semifinal win over Holmes. He tied the mark set by Johnny Cox of Hazard and Kelly Middleton of Mason County.
- Mason County coach Chris O'Hearn says the Royals are going to have an "outstanding schedule" next season. He couldn't list the games because some contracts still have to be signed. He said the home schedule is also outstanding.

Scott County Wins State Title
Tournament MVP Bud Mackey scored 22 points to lead the Scott County Cardinals to a 56-50 win over the Ballard Bruins in the championship game of the 90th National City/KHSAA Boys' Sweet 16 last night at Rupp Arena. After trailing by seven early in the fourth quarter, Scott County ended the game on a 16-3 run, scoring the final 10 points. Mackey, a 6-4 junior guard who has verbally committed to Indiana University, scored nine straight points for the Cardinalsi in the fourth quarter. It's Scott County's second state championship. The Cardinals won their first title in 1998.
