Royals Lose to Rice 59-48

The Mason County Royals lost to the 10th ranked Rice Raiders of New York City 59-48 Friday night in the Iolani Prep Classic in Honolulu, HI. There were nine ties and eight lead changes.
Mason County led 40-33 with 7:35 to play, but the Raiders outscored the Royals 26-8 the rest of the way. Rice hit 15 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter. Mason County shot just 32% from the field. Connecticut recruit Kemba Walker scored a game-high 21 points for Rice. Russ Middleton led Mason County with 18 points. The Royals close out play in the classic Saturday at 8:30 p.m. against Iolani.

  1. If they had finished the job would that have been the greatest win ever by a Kentucky High School Hoops team? What a great trip anyway and congrats to all that have made it possible.

    Maybe we need to start an "Early morning game of the week" for those of us night-owls to tune in to during the wee hours. Thanks!
