Over and Back Violation
At least once or twice a season I see fans and sometimes coaches misunderstand the "over and back rule" in basketball and it happened again last week in the Mason County vs. Lexington Catholic game. A player for Lexington Catholic was dribbling upcourt when he stepped on the center line with one foot and then backed up in back court. The fans wanted an over and back call but it was not a violation and the officials were correct in not calling it. The player who has the ball is not considered in front court until both feet and the ball are across the center line. A player could straddle the center line, go into back court and not be called for a violation. Remember, it's both feet and the ball.
