Traxel Wins The Mason County Open

Drew Traxel broke a tie with an eagle on No. 16 and won the Mason County Open Sunday.
Traxel shot a 6-under par 64 in the final round at Kenton Station Golf Course to beat Deron Feldhaus by two shots. Traxel began the day with a one shot lead over Feldhaus and was two ahead at the turn. Traxel and Feldhaus were tied for the lead after 15 holes. Traxel hit a utility club from 241 yards to within a foot on the par 5 16th and made the putt for eagle. Feldhaus parred the hole. Both parred the final two holes and Traxel had his first Open win. His three-day total of 18-under 196 tied the tournament record set two years ago by Steve Grayson. Eric Schumacher shot a 62 Sunday and finished in third place, three shots back. Bill O'Mara was fourth, five shots behind Traxel.

Fifth Flight, Tarp Jefferson 260
Laurel Oaks Golf Club retained the city trophy with 30 and a half points, Kenton Station was second with 20 and the Maysville Country Club was third with nine and a half.
