Here are a few random notes:
- The Mason County Royals tennis team opened the season on Tuesday with a 8-1 win over the Georgetown G-Men. The Royals and Lady Royals will host Scott County today.
- Landon Scilley made his first collegiate pitching appearance on Tuesday tossing a scoreless inning in Liberty's 6-4 loss to Clemson. Scilley started the game as the designated hitter. He drew two walks, went 1-for-2 and scored a run.
- Former Mason County Royal Jordan Gilbert guided his Green County Dragons to a 64-62 victory over the Taylor County Cardinals on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the 5th Region Tournament at Marion County. Green County will play North Hardin in the semifinals on Monday night.
- The other semifinal game in the 5th Region Tournament will pit Adair County against Caverna. Adair County, coached by former Mason County resident Deron Breeze, beat Central Hardin 69-52 in the quarterfinals on Monday night.
