Royals routed by Simon Kenton

The Mason County Royals were held scoreless in the first quarter and only scored one point in the third quarter in a 76-23 loss to the Simon Kenton Pioneers on Friday night at The Fieldhouse.

The 53-point margin ties for the worse loss in school history. The 23 points are the fewest scored in school history.

Mason County (9-13) fell behind 17-0 and didn't score its first points until the 7:48 mark of the second quarter.

Simon Kenton  (17-6) shot 51.7% from the field compared to 22.9% for Mason County.

The Pioneers outrebonded the Royals 44-14.

Cole Horch led Mason County in scoring with six points.

The Royals' game vs. Highlands on Saturday has been canceled. They will play at Bishop Brossart on Tuesday night.
