The Fieldhouse hosted its first game 60 years ago tonight

Sixty years ago tonight on January 15, 1965, the Mason County Royals defeated the Ripley Blue Jays 82-63 in the first game played in the Mason County Fieldhouse.

Many memorable games have been played there. Jammed packed Maysville vs. Mason County games, buzzer-beaters to win region championships and outstanding individual performances.

In addition to high school games, The Fieldhouse has hosted the Harlem Globetrotters, an NBA exhibition game between the Cincinnati Royals and the St. Louis Hawks, the Cincinnati Reds baseball team vs. a team of local all-stars, a Blue-White Kentucky scrimmage and a UK barnstorming team.

Big name entertainers including Count Basie, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Brenda Lee, Rosemary Clooney, Willie Nelson and Ray Price have performed in The Fieldhouse.

Happy birthday to The Fieldhouse.
