Royals lose to Fleming County

Mason County was unable to slow down Fleming County's high powered offense and the Royals lost to the Panthers 93-72 on Saturday night at The Fieldhouse.

There were 53 fouls and 76 free throws. Fleming County was 39-for-53 on free throws. Mason County was 11-for-23 from the charity stripe.

Seth Hickerson scored a game-high 32 points for Fleming County. Four other Panthers scored in double digits. Kaine Roberts scored 18 points, Lucas Jolly 16, Preston Cropper 15 and Bradley Robinson 11.

Garryon McClain scored a career-high 27 points for Mason County. Braeden Myrick tossed in 17 points.

Mason County (7-7) led 18-11 at the 4:16 mark of first quarter, but Fleming County (12-4) went on a 22-4 run to lead 33-22 with 6:32 left in the second quarter.

The Panthers took their first 20-point lead at  56-36 with 4:44 to go in the third quarter. Less than two minutes later, the Royals trimmed the deficit to 12 at 62-50. Fleming County answered with a 13-5 run to push the lead back out to 20. The Panthers were up by as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter.

Mason County will travel to Paris on Tuesday night to play the Bourbon County Colonels.

Fleming County will host Cooper next Saturday night.
