Greenup County's high-powered offense will present huge challenge to Mason County

Mason County's defense faces a big challenge when the Royals host the Greenup County Musketeers on Friday night in the opening round of the Class 4A football playoffs. 

Mason County (7-3) has allowed 49 points in each of its last games while Greenup County (8-2) has topped 50 points in each of its last two games as well as two other contests this season including 63 points vs. Montgomery County.

The Musketeers have set a new school record for points scored in a season (430).

Greenup County's offense is fueled by dual threat quarterback Tyson Sammons.

Sammons, a senior, has rushed for 1,387 yards and 21 touchdowns and passed for 1,448 yards and 19 touchdowns this season.

Sammons also plays on defense and leads the team in tackles with 85.

The Musketeers' two losses were to district foes Ashland (51-12) and Johnson Central (67-42).
