With the high school basketball season beginning in Kentucky next week now is a good time to review some of the rules changes approved by the National Federation of High Schools.
Flopping or faking being fouled is one of the issues addressed by the revisions.
Officials will issue a warning for the first instance of flopping. If it happens again, the team will receive a technical foul instead of player technical foul which was the case under the old rule.
A player who is bleeding or has blood on the uniform will be allowed to remain in the game if the issue can be resolved in 20 seconds.
Officials will be allowed to issue a team warning when a ball is not immediately passed to an official when a whistle sounds. Subsequent violations will result in a team technical foul instead of a player technical foul.
Basket interference will no longer be called when a defender touches the net if the official determines the contact did not affect the try for a basket.
