Mason County girls fifth, boys T18 at state track and field championships

The Mason County girls finished fifth with 40 points and the boys tied for 18th place with 16 points at the Class 2A Clark Pump-N-Shop Track and Field State Championships presented by UK HealthCare on Friday at the University of Kentucky.

Lexington Catholic won the girls' championship with 93 points. Covington Catholic won the boys' title with 75 points.

Here is a rundown of Mason County's performances:

The boys' 4x800 meter relay team of Bryant Curtis, Ed Brannon, Peyton Ullery and Dashawn Overly finished second and broke its own school record with a time of 8:10.71.

Ava Thompson was second (11:06.00) and Sarah Payne was fourth (10-00.00) in the girls' pole vault.

Payne finished fourth in the girls' 400 meter dash (1:00.64).

Waylon Spence was third in the mixed shot put unified (63-11.50) and eighth in the mixed long jump unified (17-10.10).

Spence and Casey Magee took seventh place in the mixed 2x50 meter relay unified (18.08).

Madison Howard was third (17-00.00) and Kenzie Gulley was fifth (16-06.50) in the girls' long jump.

Gulley was 11th (13.06) and Howard was 14th in the girls' 100 meter dash.

Howard took sixth place in the girls' triple jump (32-07.50).

Keenan Galloway finished fifth in the boys' pole vault (12-00.00).

Deshawn Overly was seventh (9:53.15) and Ed Brannon was 11th (10:04.19) in the boys' 3200 meter run. 

Amirah Reed was eighth in the girls' 100 meter hurdles (16.90).

The girls' 4x400 meter relay team of Sarah Payne, Ava Thompson, Cece Hiatt and Brooklyn Young finished eighth (4:17.68).

The girls' 4x200 meter relay team of Haven Hamilton, Sarah Payne, Amirah Reed and Adrienne Downs-Perry finished seventh (1:49.77).

The girls' 4x100 meter relay team of Kenzie Gulley, Adrienne Downs-Perry, Amirah Reed and Madison Howard took fifth place (50.64).

Trazon Lang finished seventh in the boys' high jump (6-00.00).

Ava Thompson was eighth in the girls' high jump (34-10.00).

Reese Hardeman finished 10th (30-07.25) and Makaylynn Crabtree was 14th (30-00.50) in the girls' shot put.

Crabtree was 12th in the girls' discus throw (91-10).

Peyton Ullery was 14th in both the boys' 800 meter run and the boys' 1600 meter run (4:41.63). 

Bryant Curtis was 16th (4:43.97) in the boys' 1600 meter run (4:43.97).

Brooklyn Young was 16th in the girls' 800 meter run (2:38.12).

Elijah Reed finished 17th in the boys' pole vault (10-06.00) and 19th in the boys' triple jump (38-02.25).

The boys' 4x400 meter relay team of Bryant Curtis, Peyton Ullery, Marquise Kirk and Elijah Reed finished 23rd (3:48.40).
