The Mason County Royals shot 68.4 percent from the field and had five players score in double figures in a 99-57 rout of the Powell County Pirates on Thursday night in the semifinals of the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Tournament at Fleming County.
Mason County (9-5) led 21-20 midway through the second quarter. The Royals then went on a 27-6 run to make the score 48-26 with 6:21 left in the third quarter. Mason County outscored Powell County (5-7) 31-9 in the fourth quarter.
Cayden Reed stuffed the stat sheet with 22 points,eight assists, six rebounds and four steals. Braylon Hamilton made four 3-pointers and scored 18 points. Jake Feldhaus finished with 17 points and nine rebounds. Landon Scilley was 6-of-7 from the field with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists and Garryon McClain scored a career-high 14 points on 5-of-5 from the field including 3-of-3 from 3-point range.
Mason County was 39-of-57 from the field and 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) on 3-point shots for the game. The Royals made 23 of their 26 second half shots for 68.4 percent including 7-of-8 from beyond the arc.
The Royals outrebounded the Pirates 36-14 and scored 24 points off Powell County's 12 turnovers.
