The Mason County Lady Royals and Royals opened the indoor track and field season with a sweep of the team titles on Saturday at the Mason County Indoor Track and Field Complex on Saturday.
The Lady Royals racked up 152 points, while the Royals amassed 121 points for decisive wins.
Three school records were broken and one was tied.
The new records were set by Lexi Young in the girls' high jump (5-06.00), CJ Arthur in the boys' 55 meter dash (6.65) and the boys' 4x800 meter relay team of Bryant Curtis, Deshawn Overly, Ed Brannon and Peyton Ullery (8:45.40).
Ava Thompson tied the girls' pole vault record (10-06.00).
Those athletes who set or tied records won their events.
Young also won the long jump (17-01.50) and the 55 meter dash (7.50).
Other first place finishes by Mason County athletes include:
- Amirah Reed, girls' 55 meter hurdles (9.78)
- Peyton Ullery, boys' 800 meter run (2:10.86)
- Ed Brannon, boys' 3000 meter run (9:49.89)
- Keshaun Thomas, boys' long jump (19-08.00)
- Keenan Galloway, boys' pole vault (10-06.00)
- The girls' 4x400 meter relay team of Sarah Payne, Kolby Galloway, Brooklyn Young and Cece Hiatt (4:50.11)
