Lady Royals snap skid with a win over Rowan County in 2A Section tourney

The Mason County Lady Royals snapped a three-game losing streak with a 67-60 victory over the Rowan County Lady Vikings on Tuesday night in the quarterfinal round of the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 8 Tournament at The Fieldhouse.

Amirah Reed made four 3-pointers and scored 21 points, Lexi Young had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Olivia Hughes tossed in 16 points for the Lady Royals.

Mason County (8-5) led 35-14 in the second quarter. Rowan County (10-4) closed to with five at 59-54 with just over a minute left in the game. The Lady Royals answered with five straight points.

Mason County advances to the semifinals on Thursday night at Fleming County to play the Powell County Lady Pirates.
