Lady Royals fall to Morgan County 49-45

The Mason County Lady Royals made a late rally, but came up short in a 49-45 loss to the Morgan County Lady Cougars on Monday night in West Liberty.

There were four ties and five lead changes through the first three quarters. 

After Morgan County (11-6) led by six in the fourth quarter, Mason County (7-8) cut the deficit to two on three different occasions. The last time was at 47-45 and the Lady Royals had the ball with a chance to tie the game or take the lead, but couldn't score. Morgan County iced the game by hitting two free throws for the final margin.

Avery Sims had a double-double for Mason County with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sarah Payne added 11 points. Lexi Young had 11 rebounds and five points.

The Lady Royals will host Dixie Heights on Saturday.
