The Mason County Lady Royals won the season-opening indoor track and field meet Saturday at the Mason County Schools Indoor Athletic Complex.
The Lady Royals racked up 141 points. St. Henry finished second with 134 points.
Bishop Brossart won the boys' team title. The Mason County Royals finished in fourth place.
Mason County sophomore AJ Barrett broke his own school record in the pole vault. He cleared 10-09.00 to win the event.
Mason County sophomore Layla Henderson set a new school by winning the girls' 3000 meter run with a time of 11:30.70.
Henderson teamed with Hayden Faris, Elizabeth Lavinder and Paige Decker to win the girls' 4x800 relay with a time of (10:46.47)
Other first place finishes by Mason County athletes include:
- Karis Applegate in the girls' 55 meter dash (7.54)
- Alix Flinders in the boys' 400 meter dash (56.64)
- The boys' 4x400 meter relay team of Asher Braughton, Johnny Jones, Colton Riggs and Alix Flinders (3:59.20).
