Lady Royals 1st, Royals 2nd in the final home indoor track and field meet

Mason County won the girls' team title and finished second in the boys' team rankings Saturday in the third and final indoor track and field meet of the regular season at Mason County.

Layla Henderson broke he own record in the girls' 3000 meter with a time of 11.24.64. She also won the girls' 1600 meter run.

Other Mason County athletes with first place finishes include:

  • Rachel Payne in the girls' 55 meter hurdles and the girls' 400 meter dash.
  • Karris Applegate in the girls' 55 meter dash.
  • Victoria Lavinder in the girls' shot put.
  • Alix Flinders in the boys' 400 meter dash.
  • AJ Barrett in the boys' pole vault.
  • Girls' 4x800 meter relay team of Layla Henderson, Paige Decker, Hayden Faris and Elizabeth Lavinder.
  •  Girls' 4x400 meter relay Morgan Carpenter, Hadley Maher, Alexis Decker and Rachel Payne.
  • Boys 4x400 meter relay team Asher Braughton, Austin Moreland, Colton Riggs and Alix Flinders.

The Indoor State Championship will take place this Saturday in Louisville.
