Lavinder sets school record in 1600 meters; 3 Mason County athletes compete in state pole vault

Mason County freshman Elizabeth Lavinder set a new school in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:31.25 at Mason County Indoor Track and Field Meet #4 on Saturday.

Three Mason County freshman competed in the state indoor pole vault championship in Shelbyville on Sunday.

Morgan Carpenter was fourth (8'), Layla Henderson fifth (6'6") and Cameron Rosel tied for seventh place (8'6').

Mason County will begin the full state indoor track and field meet this Saturday at the Carmeuse/Mason County School Indoor Athletic Complex with nine points for the girls and one and a-half points for the boys thanks to the pole vault.

(Updated to correct that the pole vault meet was on Sunday, not on Monday.)
