KHSAA holding out hope for state basketball tournaments

Despite an announcement of the ticket refund options for the girls' and boys' state basketball tournaments, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association is stilling hold out hope for playing the tournaments.

The KHSAA issued a news release on Wednesday detailing the ticket refund options that included the word "cancelation."

About two hours later,  the KHSAA sent out a tweet that said, "No change in official status of boys and girls basketball events! Remain postponed. Events had to be "canceled" through Ticketmaster to permit refunds. When a final determination is made, schools will be first to know."

The Covid-19 pandemic forced the postponement of both tournaments.

The Mingua Beef Jerkey/KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 was postponed after five games were played last week. The Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 was scheduled to start on Wednesday.
