Local sports notes

Here are a few local sports notes:


  • It's Senior Night at St. Patrick as the Saints and Lady Saints host Robertson County in a boys' and girls' doubleheader. Th boys' game is first at 6 p,m, The seniors will be recognized between games.

  • The Mason County Lady Royals 72-55 victory over the Scott Lady Eagles was the 100th career win for Coach Brad Cox.

  • The draws for the state basketball tournaments were held this morning. The 10th Region champion will play the 3rd Region champion in the first round of the Mingua Beef Jerkey/KHSAA Girls' Sweet 16 on Thursday, March 12. Apollo, Owensboro Catholic and Muhlenberg County are the top teams in the 3rd Region according to the RPI. The 10th Region champion will play the 1st Region champion in the first round of the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys' Sweet 16 on Wednesday, March 18. McCracken County, Murray and Paducah Tilghman are the top teams in the 1st Region according to the RPI. Game times will be set by the KHSAA.

  • The 1969-70 Mason County Royals basketball team and cheerleaders will be recognized at halftime of the Mason County vs. Harrison County boys' game Saturday night at The Fieldhouse.
