Lady Royals open outdoor track and field season with with a win

The Mason County Lady Royals opened the outdoor track and field season by winning the GRC Metal Throwdown today at Transylvania University.

Mason County finished with 90 points. Lafayette was the runner-up with 73 points.

Mason County seniors Abi Dawson (9-05) and Olivia O'Hearn 
(7-11) finished 1-2 in the pole vault. 

Dawson and O'Hearn teamed with Rachel Payne and Morgan Carpenter for a second place finish in the 4x400 meter relay.

Iyanna Johns was second in the long jump (15-10.50).

Payne was second in the 100 meter hurdles (18.95) and fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (52.41).

The 4x100 meter relay team of Johns, Te'a King, Kendra Shoemaker and Payne finished in third place (54.02).

The 4x800 meter relay team of Alyssa Bisotti, Elizabeth Lavinder, Paige Decker and Hayden Faris took third place (10:31.90).

Sarah Brewer was fourth (4-08.00) and O'Hearn was seventh in the (4-04.00) in the high jump.

King as fifth (14.02) and Johns (14.52) was eighth in the 100 meter dash.

Emily Huber was sixth in the shot put (27-10.00).

Decker was seventh in the 1600 meter run (5:40.29).

Lavinder was eighth in the 3200 meter run (12:38.35).

Shoemaker was eighth in the 100 meter hurdles (21.18).
