Last month the Mason County Royals suffered a 32-point loss to the Scott Eagles in Taylor Mill. Tonight the Royals stayed with the Eagles for three quarters, but a 19-4 fourth quarter run by Scott doomed Mason County in a 65-55 loss in the Section 3 semifinals of the Kentucky 2A Championships at The Fieldhouse.
There was one tie and six lead changes, but Scott's big run gave the Eagles a 61-44 lead with 2:50 left in the game.
Mason County outrebounded Scott 39-30, but shot 35.2 percent from the field and had 19 turnovers.
Jaylen Lofton led the Royals in scoring with 15 points. Jeremiah Jones followed with 12 points. Xylon Frey had a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Carson Brammer added 10 points.
The Royals play at Greenup County Tuesday night.
