Mason County sweeps Bracken County in girls and boys DH at The Fieldhouse

Both the Mason County Lady Royals and Royals used full-court pressure and big first half scoring runs on their way to routs over Bracken County tonight at The Fieldhouse.

The Lady Royals had a 20-0 run in a 70-35 victory over the Lady Bears.

The Royals had a 19-2 run and defeated the Polar Bears 73-40 to snap a four-game, season-opening losing streak. The Royals have won 25 straight games against the Polar Bears.

In the girls' game, Mason County scored 30 points off Bracken County's 28 turnovers.

The Lady Royals were led in scoring by Victoria Brooks and Emma Taylor with 11 points apiece. Rachel Payne added 10 points.

Kennedy Carl scored 22 points for the Lady Bears.

Turnovers were also a key statistic in the boys' game. The Royals scored 20 points off the Polar Bears' 21 turnovers. Mason County had 15 turnovers, its second fewest of the season. 

The Royals had 17 assists. They shot 62.1 percent from the field in the second half.

Jaylen Lofton scored a game-high 21 points. Xyon Frey scored 15 points and Carson Brammer added 10 points.

Nathan Jefferson led Bracken County in scoring with 11 points. Jhace Cummins added 10 points.
