Royals lose to Simon Kenton 68-43 in home opener

The Mason County Royals fell behind 11-0 and could not catch up in a 68-43 loss to the Simon Kenton Pioneers in the their home opener tonight.

Mason County shot 33.3 percent from the field for the second straight game.

Turnovers were a huge problem again for the Royals. Simon Kenton scored 29 points off Mason County's 27 turnovers. The Royals had 29 turnovers in their season-opening loss to Lexington Catholic.

Simon Kenton sophomore guard Kelly Niece scored  27 points on 9-of-15 shooting including 3-of-4 beyond the arc.

Jaylen Lofton led Mason County in scoring with 12 points. Seth Chambers added 10 points.

The Royals play at Bourbon County Tuesday night.
