Royals lose season opener to Lexington Catholic 68-33

The Mason County Royals had more turnovers (17) than points (13) in the first half on the way to a 68-33 season-opening loss to the Lexington Catholic Knights Monday night in Lexington.

The Knights scored 31 points off the Royals' 29 turnovers and shot 59.6 percent from the field. 

Mason County shot 33.3 percent from the field including 4-of-21 on three-pointers.

Jaylen Lofton led the Royals in scoring with 11 points. Chandler Black added 10 points.

Mason County plays its home opener Friday night against the Simon Kenton Pioneers.
