Decker and the Lady Royals 3rd at state XC meet

The Mason County Lady Royals finished in third place in the Class 2A cross country state meet today at the Kentucky Horse Park. It's the program's highest finish in school history.

Region champion Paige Decker, an 8th grader, led the Lady Royals with a third place finish in a time of 19:30.08.

Scott won the team title with 106 points. Highlands was the runner-up with 115 points followed by Mason County with 121 points.

Highland sophomore Maggie Schroeder won the individual championship (19:07.68) and Christian Academy freshman Addi Dewey was the runner-up (19:24.89).

Mason County freshman Alyssa Bisotti finished in 16th place (20:25.45).

Mason County finished in 29th place in the boys' race.

The Royals were led by junior Isaiah Riggs with a 53rd place finish (18:16.46).

Lexington Catholic won the boys' Class 2A state championship.

Boyd County was the runner-up.
