After the start of the game was delayed an hour and 52 minutes by lightning, the two teams played a scoreless first half.

The Thorobreds rushed for 240 yards including 178 in the second half.

"Played a very, very tough team, a very, very tough fought game for us, " Mason County Jonathan Thomas said. "I'm not real sure we could have done this two, maybe even three weeks ago. I think this team has come a long way. I'm very proud of their effort. We tackled that big kid all night long."
Thomas said the Royals played their hearts out.
"We started two freshmen this week on the o-line; we were minus 10 guys this week," Thomas said. "So, out of gas at the end; again, just proud of their effort, proud of the guys, proud of the way they fought."
Mason County hosts the Holmes Bulldogs next week.
