Lippert shoots 68 in first round of Kentucky Open and is T13

Mason County alum Tyler Lippert, a rising junior at Eastern Kentucky University, shot a three-under 68 today in the opening round of the 99th Kentucky Open at Big Spring Country Club in Goshen and is tied for 13th place.

Lippert had six birdies and three bogeys.

Play was delayed four hours due to thunderstorms and several golfers were unable to complete the first round.

Hayden Zimmerer of Louisville and Trevor Johnson of Brentwood are the co-leaders at seven-under.

The Kentucky Open is a 54-hole tournament. The field will be cut to the low 70 golfers and ties after the second round.
