Stafford signs with Union College

Mason County senior Chase Stafford quit playing soccer in the seventh grade, but he missed it and decided to play for the Royals beginning in his sophomore year. Today, he signed to play soccer at Union College.

Stafford said choosing to return to the sport "was one of the greatest decisions I've ever made."

"He played a lot of different positions, anywhere I asked him to play, he played." former Mason County coach Andy Bisotti said. "And I know that this last year, he especially stepped up as far as leadership and his skill on the field and what he did for us in scoring goals, assisting and just leading the younger guys on our team. So, Union's got a great player coming to 'em, and we're just proud of the effort he put in this past year."

Stafford said he might go into a communications field.
