Royals defeat Saints 80-31 in season opener

The Mason County Royals defeated the St. Patrick Saints 80-31 tonight at The Fieldhouse in the season opener for both teams.

After leading 38-14 at the half, the Royals opened the third quarter on a 14-0 run.

Mason County outrebounded St. Patrick 63-27.

The Saints shot just 20.4% from the field and only 8.7% from three-point range.

Xylon Frey led Mason County in scoring with a career-high 15 points. 

Leevi Dunaway followed with 12 points and Jaylen Lofton added 11 points.

Baylen Bauer was St. Patrick's leading scorer with 10 points.

Mason County plays at Simon Kenton Friday night.

St. Patrick hosts Ironton St. Joseph Friday night in the Catholic Classic.
