Royals Host West Union on Senior Night

The Mason County Royals, still looking for their first win of the season, host the West Union Dragons Friday night. It's Senior Night and Mason County's final home game of the season.

West Union is a club team not sponsored by the school. This is the fifth year for the program and just the second season at the high school level.

"We understood going into it that, you know, we were going to take our lumps in the first few years as most programs do," West Union coach Scott McFarland said. "But the kids are having a great time playing the game, learning a lot."

The Dragons are 2-4-1 with wins over North Adams (42-0) and Hannan, West Virginia (1-0 by forfeit). West Union tied Middleton Christian (12-12) and has lost to East Carter (56-7), Middleton Christian (42-8) Green (26-24) and Landmark Christian (42-14).

Mason County fell to 0-8 with a 41-6 loss to Holmes last week.

Notes:
- West Union defensive coordinator Steve Darby played for Bo Schembechler at Miami University.
- This is the first meeting between Mason County and West Union.
- The Royals will host the Dragons again next season.
- Mason County will close out the regular season next week at Conner.

(Edited to correct West Union's record,)
