Mason County at Conner in Season Finale

The Mason County Royals, coming off their first win of the year, close out the season Friday night against the Class 6A Conner Cougars in Hebron.

"We had a little bit of fun this week and we're building for the future, we're definitely trying to send our seniors out the right way, " Mason County coach Jonathan Thomas said. "So, hopefully our guys will embrace their last game of the season whether they're coming back or not."

Sophomore tailback Malkolm Devine rushed for 252 yards and four touchdowns in Mason County's 51-0 win over West Union last week.

Conner (6-3) is led by dual-threat quarterback Kyler Padgett. He has passed for 1,296 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 585 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Cougars lost to Cooper 15-13 last week.

Notes:
- This is the first meeting between Mason County and Conner.
- Conner coach Dave Trosper is Stephanie Buchanan's cousin. He is in ninth season as Conner's head coach. Trosper was the head coach at Holmes for five seasons and was an assistant coach at Union College and Morehead State University.
- Conner finished in third place in its three-team district and will play the Campbell County Camels at Campbell County next week in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.The Cougars beat the Camels 36-14 on October 8.
