The Mason County Royals, coming off a bye week, host the Scott Eagles Friday night on Homecoming. Mason County is 0-4, Scott is 4-1. Its the district opener for both teams.The Eagles have wins over Newport Central Catholic (8-7), Dixie Heights (36-7), Newport (61-6) and Holy Cross (56-39). Their lone loss was to Conner 28-27 two weeks ago. Scott has rushed for 1,125 yards. London Roberto has rushed for 472 yards and nine touchdowns. Quarterback Danny Fitzgerald has completed 36 of 55 passes for 527 yards and four touchdowns and two interceptions. Mason County lost to North Laurel 40-0 two weeks ago. Junior tailback/linebacker Tyrion Fox suffered a season-ending injury in that game. That's a huge loss, but Coach Jonathan Thomas says "we've got other guys on our team who can step in and fill that void," Kickoff is at 7:30.
Notes:
- Mason County leads the series 4-2 and has won the last two meetings- 34-21 at home in 2013 and 28-27 last season at Scott.
- While Mason County moved up from Class 3A to Class 4A this season, Scott moved down from Class 5A to Class 4A.
- This is the first of four straight district games for Mason County.
