Sarah Fite Loses in Quarterfinals of National Tournament
Sarah Fite, a rising junior at Mason County High School, lost in the quarterfinals of the Western Women's Golf Association 89th National Junior Championship at Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, North Carolina. Fite lost to Medalist Tess Hackworthy of Madison, Wisconsin 8 and 6 today. Earlier today in the second round, Fite defeated Natalie Peterson of Holly Springs,North Carolina in 19 holes. Fite beat Amelia Root of Jacksonville, Florida 3 and 2 in the first round Wednesday. After two qualifying rounds of medal play, the top 32 golfers began match play in the Championship Flight Wednesday. Fite had a 36-hole total of 162. She won the Class A putting contest on Sunday.
