Royals top Comets 26-12 in Olive Hill

The Mason County Royals continued their big play attack to defeat the ball-hogging West Carter Comets 26-12 in a district game tonight in Olive Hill. West Carter used a 14-play, 64-yard drive to take a 6-0 lead. Mason County went up 13-6 only to see the Comets cut the lead to one with a 15-play, 80-yard scoring drive that consumed the first 8:41 of the third quarter. The Royals answered with a 73-yard touchdown run by Josh Harris and added another TD in the fourth quarter. Neal Pawsat completed 11-of-15 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Harris had 15 carries for 170 yards and the long touchdown run. Jordan Gilbert had four receptions for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Mason County is 8-0 for just the second time in the history of the program. The Royals are 3-0 in the district. They close out district play this coming week at home against Fleming County.
