Royals run past UFCA 66-37


The Mason County Royals jumped out to a 10-1 lead and beat United Faith Christian Academy 66-37 today in the semifinals of the 19th Annual Daytona Beach Sunshine Classic. Mason County made 9-of-13 shots in the first quarter including four three-pointers. Russ Middleton scored 12 points in the first quarter and ended up with a game-high 26 points. Phil Barner had a double-double, 10 points and 11 rebounds. UFCA, the number one team in Class 1A in North Carolina, did not have a player in double figures. The Falcons were missing one starter- 6'-5" senior Blake Smith- who was out with an injury. Mason County plays Winton Woods in the championship game Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.
