Batey ties school record with 9 PATs, margin is school record

Mason County senior Jessica Batey tied a school record with nine PATs in the Royals' 69-0 win over the Lewis County Lions Friday night. Damian Lang also kicked nine extra points in a 74-6 victory over Bath County in 2000. Everybody in the pressbox thought Batey's PAT after the Royals' eighth touchdown was good, but the officials ruled it no good. Batey moved past Lang into third place in both career extra points (51) and kicking points (54). She is one point behind Michael Parker in PATs and four points behind Parker in kicking points. The 10 touchdowns Friday night also tied a school record. Mason County scored 10 TDs in the 74-6 win over Bath County in 2000 and in a 67-0 win over Montgomery County 2003. The 69 point margin of victory breaks the old school record 66 set in the 74-6 victory over Bath County. The 69 points scored by Mason County against Lewis County were not the most scored by a Kentucky team Friday night. Fairdale routed Atherton 72-0 and Highlands beat Holmes 70-6. Twelve teams scored 60 or more points Friday night.
