Maysville native Deron Breeze is the new boys' basketball coach at Bracken County High School.
He succeeds Jay Fite who resigned last week to accept an assistant coach position at Lewis County. Breeze is a graduate of Barren County High School and Western Kentucky University.
He is completing his master's degree in special education at WKU. Bracken County Principal and Athletic Director Jenny Ray said in an e-mail message that during the 2006-2008 seasons Breeze "worked closely under (former WKU) Coach Darrin Horn in summer individual instruction workouts for WKU players. He also assisted during the season with scouting, recruiting, and daily basketball operations." Breeze's dad, Tony Breeze, played basketball at Mason County during the mid 1970s.
