Summer Basketball Underway

The start of the high school basketball season is six months away, but summer practice is underway for local teams. St. Patrick Lady Saints Coach Elaine Douglas says her team started practicing a week ago today and has already played games in Hopkinsville and Montgomery County. Douglas says her team is playing mostly weekend games. New Mason County Lady Royals Coach Stephen Butcher held his first practice Monday night. The Lady Royals will play in the Fleming County Team Camp Friday and Saturday. St. Patrick Saints Coach Jason Hinson was running his squad through a practice when I called him Monday morning. The Saints will see their first summer action in the Lewis County Team Camp Wednesday. Mason County Royals Coach Chris O'Hearn says the defending state champions are not playing as many games this summer as in the past. He says several of his players are on various AAU teams. The Royals' first summer game will be in their team camp Friday.
