Mason County senior Kasey Litzinger won both the shot put (30-05.25 ) and the discus (83.11) at the Class 2A Region 5 track and field meet Saturday in Falmouth. Litzinger led the Lady Royals to a fourth place finish. Mason County senior Daniel Reed was second in the triple jump (41-10). The Royals finished ninth in the boys' meet. Litzinger and Reed are automatic qualifiers for the state meet Friday and Saturday at the University of Louisville. Several other Mason County athletes also may have qualified for the state meet. A formula is used to determine the qualifiers based on statewide results. The KHSAA is expected to post the qualifiers later this evening. Check out these links for the regional results:
