Scott County 76, Mason County 64

Darius Miller played just 16:31 because of foul trouble and the Mason County Royals lost to the Scott County Cardinals 76-64 tonight in The Fieldhouse. Miller scored just five points. He picked up his third foul with 2:15 left in the second quarter, his fourth foul with 5:08 remaining in the third quarter and fouled out with 6:08 left in the game. Mason County led by eight early in the second quarter, but Scott County was up 33-28 at the half. The Cardinals outscored the Royals 22-13 in the third quarter. Scott County led 63-46 with 5:23 to play. Mason County cut the deficit to eight at 68-60 with 1:40 remaining, but could get no closer. The Royals missed 14 free throws in the game including eight straight in the third quarter. Scott County junior Richie Phares made 13 of 15 free throws and scored a game-high 23 points. Russ Middleton led Mason County with 20 points.

I guess we will know on 3/22 if this game indicates the Royals were still too sick to play at a high level, just had a bad game, had spent too much time playing and not enough time training the past 2+ weeks or are just plain overrated as the Scott fans were hollering at the end of the game. My bet Coach turns this weekend into a great team building experience that will pay off later.
