Record Setting Meet

Here is a press release on Saturday's track meet at the US Bank-Mason County Schools
Indoor Athletic Complex:


The new polyurethane surface at the the US Bank-Mason County Schools Indoor Athletic Complex provided seven new high school fieldhouse records as well as possibly the #3 and #6 times in the US in the 55 meter dash by Casey Combest in the Open Division. Combest, a graduate of Owensboro High School and holder of the national high school indoor records at 60 meters, 100yards and 100 meters, who is making a remarkable return to the competition after an eight year absence from track and field, opened with a 6.29 in the prelims. He returned 20 minutes later to lower his time to 6.27 in the finals. Possible #1 ranking at 55 is Evander Wells of the University of Tennessee at 6.23. Overlooked with Combest performances were two fieldhouse records by duPont Manual senior Gerry Cooper who ran 6.34 for 55 meters and 53.67 for400 meters on the 3 laps per 400 oval.
