Offensive Efficiency Rating (OER) is a term NBA and college basketball teams use to evaluate their performance. Dean Oliver, author of the book "Basketball on Paper," came up with a formula to figure points per possession. The statistics computer program used by Mason County and most other high school basketball teams figures points per possession for every game. You determine the OER, by multiplying the points per possession x 100. Mason County's OER has been above 100 in all but two games-the loss to Rice and Sunday's win over Montgomery County. In their loss to Lexington Catholic, the Royals had a very good OER (113), but the Knights were more efficient on offense ( with an OER 134). Here is the OER for the Mason County Royals and their opponents through the first 16 games:
Mason C0. 111, Bryan Station 96
Mason Co. 112, Tates Creek 100
