Mason County Track Teams Continue Success

Mason County set two meet records and had the outstanding female and male athletes at the Newport River City Classic last week. The boys 4x100 meter relay team of Brent Sparks, Chase Crawford, Tyreese Scott and Daniel Reed set a meet record with a time of 44.1. De'Sarae Chambers set a meet record in the triple jump at 32' 9". Chambers, who was named outstanding female athlete of the meet, also won the long jump. Sparks, won the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, was named oustanding male athlete of the meet. Other winners for Mason County include:
Girls 4x100 meter relay
Kasey Litzinger, shot put and discus
Valerie Rice, 800 meter run
Boys 4x200 meter relay
The Mason County girls finished second in the team standings. The Mason County boys were fifth.
Mason County competed in the Meet of Champions Tuesday night at Russell. The girls were second again, while the boys finished sixth. De'Sarae Chambers was again named outstanding female. She won both the long jump and the triple jump. Brent Sparks won the boys 200 meter dash. Mason County also won the boys 4x100 meter relay and the boys 4x200 meter relay.
Both relay team consist of Chase Crawford, Tyreese Scott, Daniel Reed and Sparks.
