The Mason County Lady Royals defeated the St. Patrick Lady Saints 78-63 and the Mason County Royals routed the Augusta Panthers 90-36 in the district finals tonight at The Fieldhouse. Five players scored in double figures for the Lady Royals who won their fifth straight district championship. De'Sarae Chambers led the way with 17 points, Lacey Cline had 15, Megan Reese 12 and Kasey Litzinger and Keller Menke with 10 apiece. Cheryl Rutherford led the Lady Saints with15 points and Emily Brant scored 10.
After leading 28-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Royals scored the first 19 points of the second quarter and outscored the Panthers 23-3 in the quarter. Darius Miller scored 19 points, Trevor Setty 18 and Russ Middleton 14. Jeremy Hardymon was the only Panther in double figures with 12 points. It's the Royals' seventh consecutive district championship and the 30th in school history.
