The Clark County Cardinals upset the Mason County Royals 63-59 today in the championship game of the Boys' 10th Region Tournament. There were 12 ties and 11 lead changes in the game. Clark County senior Preston Knowles and Mason County junior Darius Miller each scored 33 points. Clark County junior Evan Bennett came off the bench to score nine points, and his three-pointer gave the Cardinals a seven point with just over a minute to play. Mason County got to within three at 62-59 and had a chance to tie the game but missed a three-pointer. Bennett made one of two free throws with 13 seconds left to seal Clark County's first regional championship since 1990. Knowles was 11 of 22 from the field including four of nine on three-pointers. He made seven of nine free throws and grabbed eight rebounds. Miller was 14 of 20 from the field including one of three on three-pointers. He was four of seven from the free throw and had 10 rebounds. Russ Middleton had seven asists for the Royals.

Notes:
- Mason County senior Tony Browning suffered an ankle injury with 4:46 left in the second quarter and missed the rest of the game;
- The loss snapped three Mason County winning streaks- 15 straight this season, 20 in a row at home going back to last season and 24 straight against 10th Region opponents going back to last season;
- Mason County is now 11-11 in region finals. Four of the losses have been to Clark County;
- Former Mason County coach and current Pikeville College coach Kelly Wells was at the game, as was Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Mick Cronin.
