Mason County senior Travis Scaggs finished 11th in the cross country Meet of Champions Saturday. Scaggs had a time of 17:52. The Mason County girls varsity team consisting of all middle school girls finished fifth. The Lady Royals were led by
8th grader Iretta Carpenter. Valerice Rice, Jessica Shotwell and Alexi Loving also medaled in the girls varsity race. Mason County 8th grader Conner Appelman medaled in the boys middle school state championship race. Julia Woods medaled in the 6th grade and under race.
The Meet of Champions is the biggest race of the year with more than 2,400 runners competing. Mason County will now prepare for the Class AA regionals at Pendleton County Saturday.
